The designs were based on workflow definitions for medicines, supplies, clean and chemo IV and order processing. That approach resulted in significantly improved workflow in the pharmacy. Besides improving flows, the project was designed to allow for new clean and chemotherapy mixing rooms (meeting the new standards USP 797 and USP 800). Considering the new location of the pharmacy, much effort was given to the feel and look of the work environment: utilization of a lively color scheme combined with direct/indirect lights made for a cheery and pleasant work place, in the depth of the hospital building. Also included were staff support spaces included administration offices, lockers and a break room.
