Tacoma Radiological Associates provides medical imaging services to Pierce, Thurston, and King counties and 11 clinics. Its Union Avenue facility added equipment, expanded space, and site reconfiguration.
Salus generated a layout that improved patient and staff flows while avoiding expensive moves of existing equipment. The equipment included a new CT scanner, a new PET CT scanner and replacement of an MRI. Exam rooms, waiting area and support spaces were added to support the diagnostic services. The building expanded from 6,400 s.f. to 11,600 s.f.. The outcome is a facility that provides a welcoming sense of arrival, flooded with natural light and natural toned finishes.
The exterior of the building was redesigned to provide a fresh image to the facility. The front façade meets the new City of Tacoma street frontage requirements, both in building configuration, color, and landscaping. The expansion added 12 parking slots (including 2 ADA) on regraded steep slope, back of the building.
